Designer Profile

The Dreamer and the Realist, the 2 faces of the award winning interior designer Christine Whiteley. I believe my creative side allows me to help my clients "see" the design concept. The realistic side of me understands that an impractical result has failed the ultimate test of client satisfaction. My clients are successful individuals who value a relationship which is both collaborative and service oriented. I consider myself "skilled in the art of listening", so each project is a expression of my client's priorities and style. The concept of your home reflects the inner dimensions of your personality...it can be both beautiful and comfortable as you define it. With over 25 years of experience in remodeling and new construction of custom homes, I believe a team approach to project management is most effective, and still enjoy personal interaction on-site. I am open to both small and large projects, with consultation by appointment.

SPACES Magazine, space coast style and design

Reminiscent of the country kitchen concept, the dining table easily seats ten. Adjacent to the kitchen, the extended family gathers for the laughter and smiles while the meal is being prepared. Although the style of the dining room is timeless and traditional, the finishes are forgiving and appropriate for the grandchildren.
This is a timeless and traditional kitchen with technology seamlessly integrated. We took a typical kitchen from the 80’s and transformed it into refined and relaxed gourmet kitchen…. ceiling lines were altered, architectural details added, original wide plank pine floors discovered and thoughtfully placed appliances were incorporated. National Dream Home Silver Award for Best Kitchen Remodel
A master bath remodel with Tudor historical references defines the style, or a “Medieval Make Over” as described in the Spaces Magazine article. The client described the original shower as a “phone booth” and wanted the luxury of a custom shower. The quirkiness of the ceiling lines adapted well to the Tudor style, and the custom oak wainscot, vintage detailed oak vanities and hopscotch patterned slate floor completed the look. Reallocation of space doubled the size of the master bath and created a custom master closet accessible from the bath.
The client requested a guest bath which evokes “a feeling of being in a spa”. She was thrilled when we combined custom materials with catalog purchases…the vanity and medicine cabinets were ordered from Restoration Hardware and placed against a custom designed tumbled marble and glass tile detail. The streamline effect has the warmth of authentic materials with the budget respected as well.
A warm contemporary living room was achieved with the use of comfortable leather chairs situated in front of a cherry wood and black granite fireplace. The custom lighting produces a dramatic effect in the evening. The clients wanted a living room they would actually live in…they do.
“Cottage Revival” is how Spaces Magazine described this remodel and the clients agree. During the addition of a second floor, we added architectural detail and interest…taking care to bring old-house elements to new construction. An example is how the fireplace, inside and out, looks like it has been there in the original structure even though it is new. The clients did not want the addition to look like a remodel. Proof of our success is when they tell me “I can’t remember how it looked before”.
